The painting depicts how the quality of water has changed over time .It shows how water has lost its purity and become a solvent which is unfit for use, by increasing effects of Urbanization.

Water pollution is caused mainly due to human activities increasing human population causes rapid industrialization and unplanned urbanization which are releasing lot of waste into water bodies, which ultimately degrades the quality of water. When the pollutants mingle with the water molecules, it leads to decrease in its purity and destruction of living organisms.

The source of inspiration for this painting was the Vrishabhavati River, which is a minor river that flows through the south of Indian city of Bangalore. It is a tributary of Arkavathy River. Unfortunately, our generation has never got to see the river flowing through the city because now it’s no more a river but a dump yard of harmful toxic effluents and domestic waste. Due to excess of toxic chemicals, as the time passed by the water has lost its purity and potable quality. It has even affected the ground water of our areas.

In order to get rid of this problem, it is not enough to just treat the water and make it pure, but it is also necessary to control the source of water pollution. Sustainable ways need to be adopted to address this issue, by doing so; we could save many water bodies, which will in turn, save our own lives and have a better living.
